One of the more well known strains of marijuana. It has the reputation of being the most potent Mexican marijuana. It was very popular in the 1960s and 70s, but is becoming rarer now. Much of the Acapulco gold now being grown is said to have lost it's potency due to inbreeding (it should also be noted that in the late 60s there was speculation that Acapulco gold was not a specific variety, but rather any marijuana sold with a high bud-to-leaf ratio, and thus containing high levels of THC). Despite rumors to the contrary, the gold coloring is natural to the plant, and occurs without any special treatment or gardening technique.
Acapulco gold is also the name of a cocktail.
Ingredients:
.75 fluid oz. tequila
.75 fluid oz. bacardi rum
.5 fluid oz. grapefruit juice
.5 fluid oz. coconut cream
1 fluid oz. pineapple juice
1 fluid oz orange juice (optional)
Directions: Blend ingredients together, pour over ice and add garnish.
