Miss
Oklahoma 1958, runner-up in the
Miss America Pageant, went on to an unremarkable career as a singer/actress (a female
Pat Boone, perhaps?). Was a prominent presenter and spokesmodel (most notably for the
orange juice industry in her adopted home state of
Florida) until she became the
mouthpiece for an early anti-
gay-rights ordinance in
Dade County - her OJ-magnate buddies dropped her like a hot potato. Later opened a theatre in
Branson, which flopped.
