Atropos was one of the three Fates. Her two sisters were Lachesis and Clotho. They were all depicted as being old, ugly women, who were almost incapable of showing mercy. Atropos was the oldest and the shortest of the three. She was the Fate of things that were to be, it was with her shears that mortals' threads of life were cut.
