Trademarked name (now owned by Dairy Queen) of an American fast food chain (often counter based-- all the Orange Julius' of my childhood memory were located in shopping malls, amusement parks, and airports, never stand alone buildings). The chain was noted for its frothy orange drinks. The secret of the froth: an egg (or egg whites) blended into the drink. Named after the company's founder, Julius Freed, who opened an orange stand in Los Angeles, California, in 1926. While the official recipe is a corporate secret, there are plenty of places on the Web to find a fairly close approximation.
