In 1988, alternative band Love and Rockets decided to have some psychedelic fun by dressing up in costumes that made them look like giant smiling bees and recording a 12" single under the name The Bubblemen. The single, released by Beggars Banquet, contained the songs "The Bubblemen Are Coming", "The Bubbleman Rap", and "Bees".
