Three Domains.
Note that
virii are not included here. Many biologists feel that
viruses are not "alive".
Refinements on the Five Kingdom model divide Monera into the kingdoms of Eubacteria and Archaebacteria, Protista into Archaezoa and Protozoa, and add a whole new kingdom of Chromista, for a total of 8 kingdoms.
