Once upon a time a giant lived on Carn Galva, which is an old pile of rocks in western Cornwall not far from the village of Zennor.

Unlike many of the giants of Cornwall the giant of Carn Galva was a friendly old soul and who made of point of making sure that the inhabitants of nearby Zennor and Morvah were not pestered by the more troublesome giants from the Lelent Hills.

This giant spent his time building up piles of rocks and knocking them down again, and when that failed to amuse he enjoyed a game of quoits with his good friend Choone. Unfortunately one day the giant forgot that he was giant tapped poor Choone on the head and quite crushed his skull beyond repair.

The giant of Carn Galva was distraught and died of a broken heart, but being a giant this took seven years.
