A beautiful, mournful piano tune written by Rick Wright. The theme is death, as one could surmise from the title, but a peaceful, quiet death as opposed to a violent one. After adding in bass, drums, organ, and guitar, Roger Waters still felt that the tune was missing something So he brought in vocalist Clare Torry and directed her wordless singing much like a conductor handles an orchestra. The result is one of the most mesmerizing, gentle songs in the Floyd canon.
