A Winnipeg band called Chad Allan and the Expressions, who put "Guess Who?" on their 1965 45 of "Shakin' All Over" (a garage band classic) - these were the days before Canadian content mandates. The ploy worked, so they changed their name. Allan left, 1966, later to resurface in Brave Belt; Burton Cummings replaced him. It's a long way from those raw early 45s to the exquisite pop of "These Eyes", the raunch of the live "American Woman" (no wonder Randy Bachman quit), and "Sour Suite".
