former protege,
Barbara Branden. Miss Branden was wed to
psychologist Nathaniel Branden with Rand's encouragement. NB and Rand later became
lovers, ending the Branden
marriage, and
cuckolding the man to whom
Atlas Shrugged is dedicated.
Given the circumstances, the biography is remarkably sympathetic to Rand, whom Branden still admires, though not uncritically.
