The Pear Tree

This is a pub in Edinburgh. It is adjacent to Appleton tower, the main undergraduate lecture hall of the university of Edinburgh. As such hte pub sees mainly a student clientelle.

It has a large beer garden surrounded by high walls and paved in cobblestones. The high walls shut out otherworldly distractions and the cobbles reflect the summer heat. The Pear Tree is a place to bask in the summer, have a mid-afternoon pint (a cheeky pint as a friend of mine used to call them).

It is filled with the bustle of young people , bullshitting, seducing, despairing over exams, glorying in the fact of being alive.

A German friend of mine called it the Peer Tree, he just couldn't pronounce it properly.

If you find yourself in Edinburgh you should make tracks to this pub.
