"The Real Frank Zappa Book was first published in 1988, and was written by Frank Zappa with the help of Peter Occiogrosso. The book is a narrative of Frank Zappa's life from his early (and rather hillarious) family life, his early music influences, his role in the Mothers of Invention, his solo career, his fight agaist censorship and the PMRC all the while speckled with anecdotes that range from extremely humorous, to insightfull, to political.

The book is dedicated to Gail (his wife), the kids, Stephen Hawking, and Ko-Ko.
