Book of short stories written by
Rick Moody, published in 1995 originally, but now, there's a pretty
paperback version out on
Warner Books. As you would expect from Moody, the stories are exceptionally
creepy. The first story is about a
jilted lover who becomes more and more obsessed with his
faithless wife, to the point of jogging with tapes of his wife's and
lover's conversations. While it doesn't get any weirder than that, it never really veers in to
light-hearted comedy. The title refers to the cast of characters in the title
novella. It's uneven - but this is quite a nice book.
