Second most popular pub name in Britain. Thousands of pubs around the world have this name. The origins come from the Famous Royal Oak at Boscobel. A sappling of which still exists. It is where King Charles II from Cromwell's troubles in the English Civil War. A nearby pub is the real Royal Oak after which all the others were named. It has oak beams and serves Banks Bitter and very good Indian Food.
