A broad category of wine. These wines are transparent and often slightly green in colour. Traditionally drunk with white meat or fish, these wines tend to be drier and less fruity than red wines. White wine should be served chilled to about 50 degrees Fahrenheit. The average temperature of a refrigerator is 38 degrees F. This makes the refrigerator a good place to chill your white wine, but a bad place to store it. You should not keep white wine in the refrigerator longer than 48 hours.
