absence seizure

Eletrical activity occurs throughout the brain (thus it is a generalized seizure). This type of seizure involves a loss of consciousness without convulsions. The epileptic may stare into space and/or have some jerking of the muscles. These tend to be of short duration, usually a few seconds.
