A workspace outside of the machine room where the IT/MIS/IS staff are typically located. This is where most system support/administration takes place, as it is far more pleasant to perform these tasks in the cage then the loud server room. Some cages might include raised flooring, air conditioning, door locks, UPS power, and any number of serial/network connections from the admin's desks to the machines they control during day to day tasks. The idea is since (good) servers don't need much physical attention once they're set up, admins can comfortably do their jobs from the cage.
