A demo tape is one of the ways indie musicians sell themselves. Musicians give them to record companies and music venues in the hopes of stirring up some interest. They are often sold to fans, as well.

A tool used by DJs in order to obtain bookings from promoters. Generally these are a pain in the ass to make, as it takes at least 90 minutes of work to make a decent one.
