Pali word with the same meaning as Sanskrit dharma, i.e., nature, truth (as in understanding the laws of nature - not just physical laws, but all laws of nature), reality as it is rather than as it is perceived.

Because Pali is the preferred language of Theravada Buddhism, the word dhamma commonly appears in Theravada texts to describe Buddha's teaching.
