A literary work that is meant to instruct, give advice, or convey a philosophy or a moral message. In ancient Egypt, didactic literature included instructions, sets of moral teachings often in the form of proverbs. The New Testament parables and Rumi's "Unmarked Boxes" are examples of didactic literature that convey religious teachings.
