The use of logical relations (usually expressed in terms of Boolean algebra) in digital switching circuits. Pioneered a long time ago by the information theorist Claude Shannon, who recognized the isomorphism between electrical circuits and formal logic.

Digital logic is the foundation for the design of digital circuits, such as those in microchips. People at companies like Intel, Motorola, and Texas Instruments know a lot about digital logic.
