A concept or thing which simultaneously has both positive and negative ramifications. Deciding whether or not to undertake the action in question can be difficult. I would recommend getting drunk, but that's my solution to a lot of life's challenges

Usually used as a metaphorical comparison.
A double edged sword is one which can rise up and strike you as easily as it strikes another.
