extended memory

In MS-DOS systems, any memory located at linear addresses 00100000 and above. This memory is normally inaccessible from the processor's real mode (except for the initial part, which forms the High Memory Area). An XMS driver can provide access to this memory. DOS memory management techniques can also make extended memory appear as if it were expanded memory, for applications that can use that.
