Family-sized means "large". Usually this is used in refrence to foodstuffs: a family-sized box of Cheerios or a family-sized bucket of fried chicken. It's what you normall find in a supermarket.

Family-sized is between individual sized (like from a vending machine) and restraunt sized (like from a warehouse store like Costco).
