A flat cake of thin batter fried on both sides on a hot griddle.

One of the more old-fashioned ways of saying pancake. By no means original to McDonald's.

These days, hot cake is used mostly in the phrase sell like hot cakes, meaning to sell very quickly.

Syn: battercake, flannelcake, flapcake, flapjack, griddlecake. Often spelled hotcake.
