Oddly enough, Great Britain still uses miles for distance even though the metric system is used for all other measurements of length. British odometers read in miles per hour and distances on road signs and maps are expressed in miles as well.

A measure of length, being a thousand meters. It is equal to 3,280.8 feet, or 62137 of a mile.
