Since I became a vegetarian many years ago, I have become a compulsive reader of products' Tables of Contents. You'd be amazed at some of the things you find there.

• Citrus flavored sodas often contain Brominated Vegetable Oil and/or Glycerol Ester of Wood Rosin. Mmmm, that's my tasty substance!
• Jujyfruits contain Petrolatum. Vaseline does, indeed, stick to your teeth.
• Hair Dye includes Nonoxynol-9. One wonders how its spermicidal properties were discovered.
• Nearly all Ramen flavor packets include animal products. It didn't used to be that way.
• Shampoo is thickened with table salt. (This is from a friend who works for a major shampoo manufacturer.)
• Butterfinger and 5th Avenue bars are chock-full of cornflakes.
• Chewy variations of hard candies (such as Chewy Spree and Chewy Sweetarts) are chewy because of the egg whites within.
• Some cigarettes contain chocolate.
