DejaNews is the site you turn to when you have absolutely no other way of reading your favourite newsgroup on usenet...
It is a combination of web based usenet reader, and usenet archive... that is, you can either browse newsgroups for a list of posts up to a few weeks old, or you can search for older posts, in several groups at once, going back to the dawn of time. (Well, not that long, maybe.)
Its advantages include the aforementioned archive and search facilities, it's listing of most of the 'smaller' newsgroups, plus the ability to post to newsgroups that don't *actually* exist. 8^)
It's disadvantages include the fact that every post you read requires you to load a new web page, and of course its legendary temperamentality. It breaks up threads for no apparent reason, chucks up random errors, lists ages-old posts at random, ignores certain users entirely, and every so often breaks down completely.
DejaNews posters can be recognized by this line at the bottom of every post:

Do not scorn their kind, but take pity on them... after all, they must be desperate!
