East Africa is a part of Africa usually defined as including the countries of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and sometimes Somalia.

This area contains many well-known natural features: Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya, Mount Meru, Lake Victoria, and the Serengeti, as well as many other less well known features.

If we define East Africa as Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi, then it totals:

Population: 101.8 million ( from CIA World Factbook - 2000)

Area: 1.82 million square kilometers (from CIA World Factbook - 2000)
