An opera by Tchaikovsky. It tells the story of Eugene Onegin and Tatiana. Tatiana is in love with Eugene, but she is rejected. At a ball, in a moment of rashness, Eugene duels with and kills his friend Lenski. Horrified, Eugene exiles himself for a number of years. When he returns, Eugene meets his cousin, Prince Gremin, who is now married to Tatiana. Eugene is struck by her grace and beauty and declares his love for her. She rejects him.

First performed on March 29, 1879 in Moscow.

The opera is based on the poem by Alexander Pushkin of the same name.
