A
graphic designer, he, via his work on LP designs, ads, and posters,
defined Factory Records - equally as much as the machinations of
Tony Wilson and the musics and attitude of
Joy Division/
New Order; FAC 1: his poster for Opening Night at The Factory. Outside Factory, he worked for Virgin, doing, e.g., early
OMD designs (a relationship started with FAC 6 - the "Electricity" 45); he also used his skills to visually reinvent
Ultravox, just as
Midge Ure was reinventing their sound.
