Honestly,
I ask myself
if I grow better
daily.
"Get over it,"
you tell me
and gently turn away.

No scraped knee, this
no broken bone,
no blister,
but a burden I must carry
daily
with all the bravery I can muster.

Then it comes to me,
the next thing I should do.
the burden lightens
daily
as I get over you.
