Stderr is where nasty messages are dumped when things go wrong on Unix programs.

Stderr has a file descriptor of 2.

stderr is the file descriptor to which annoying programmers dump the default output of a program when the output is longer then the screen, or when you want to use the program in a script, or when you want to capture the output to a file, or when they took programming classes at a crappy school, or when they suck, or when you hate them or when you KILL them or when... Oh, sorry... That was getting out of hand...
