A synchronous sequential network (SSN), is any finite state machine, where the inputs are synchronized with the clock. That is, the inputs only change on an active clock edge.

See also asynchronous sequential network.

Note: the bulk of this node has been moved to finite state machine, in order to better organize the material. Please read FSM.
