The Meuse
River runs from eastern
France past
Verdun and the
Ardennes through central
Belgium and
The Netherlands before emptying into the
North Sea south of
Rotterdam.
It is 575 miles long and is an important waterway, carrying major traffic through western Europe. Canals connect the Meuse to the Marne-Rhine Canal near Toul in France, and to Antwerp in Belgium via the Albert Canal.
