Super Bowl VI|Super Bowl VIII
January 14, 1973
The Dolphins became modern professional football's first (and so far, only) team to be undefeated in a single season with their win over the Redskins in Super Bowl VII.
Playing a nearly perfect game, Miami only allowed one Washington touchdown near the end of the 4th quarter. One of the most memorable Super Bowl highlight clips ever also came from this score as kicker Garo Yepremian fumbled a field goal attempt, then tried to pass the ball, which was intercepted by the 'skins, who ran the ball back 49 yards for the score.
Miami safety Jake Scott, with two interceptions in the game was named MVP. Don Shula was the head coach for the Dolphins, while George Allen led the Redskins. Attendance for the game set a new record at 90,182.
