The University is so different from other universities in the area its astounding. Diversity is good. I mean just look at some of the buildings that the University owns or occupies. From some of the gorgeous old town houses like the ones in George Square, to the massive carbuncle that is Appleton Tower. But everyone has their own opinions on architecture.
One of my favourite University buildings to look at has to be the main Library building at George Square. I've so often heard people dismissing it as looking like a multi-storey car park and the like but I think its quite stunning. Sure its made of concrete and yes, there's not a curve in sight, but it does have its attractions. Personally I find it reminiscient of oriental architecture, with its very stark horizontal lines, its contrast between light and dark. To each his own and all that.
