Silent on dark wings
Night glides across half-lit
sky
Scaring off the
sun
tree outlines
emerge
black and flat against deep
twilight
branches grab at stars
his eyes are
deceptive
Shifting in dim
light
Brown, green, then golden
molten amber
Luminous,
liquid
pale skin in darkness
his imperfections melt away
dissolved by
moonlight
my gold hair mingles with his brown
tangled companionably
but it is time to go
I drive away
leave a tiny bit of my
soul behind
just in case he needs it
