Hockey term for controlling the
puck while skating. The simplest way to do this while
skating forward is to keep the puck in front of you, touching it to the left and right with the
forehand and
backhand side of your stick blade, as you advance up the ice.
Being a good stickhandler, of course, requires more than just being able to control the puck while skating forward alone. Protecting the puck against opposing checkers is probably the most important of these.
