Karen Joy Fowler is a
slipstream author who decided to become a writer on her 30th birthday.
Her novels include Sister Noon, Sarah Canary (which won the Commonwealth Award for Best First Novel), and The Sweetheart Season. Her collection Black Glass won the 1999 World Fantasy Award.
She is a frequent instructor at the Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers' Workshop; she often team-teaches with Tim Powers. Every summer, she teaches at the Imagination Workshop at Cleveland State University. You can also find her attending WisCon nearly every year.
She was born in Bloomington, IN and currently lives with her husband in Davis, CA.
