Ok. So I'm working on Sunday morning, trying to forget that I haven't slept more than 12 hours in the past three nights, when my
neurotic, already-disillusioned-at-30 boss walks into the store. Apparently, he thought it would be a funny April Fool's Day joke to storm into the shop and fire me in front of the customers, then take it back a few minutes later.
You don't do that to someone who has just consumed four cups of coffee. Needless to say, I had already unleashed a stream of insults and
naughty words, so I felt rather angry when I found out that he wasn't serious.
For all you bosses out there, this is not a funny joke. In fact, I found it so unfunny that I quit my job, right there, in front of all the customers. That made me feel a bit better, especially when my boss realized exactly how unfunny my joke was. Because it wasn't a joke.
The moral of the story is: EXPOSING THE FRAILTY OF SOMEONE'S EMOTIONAL STATE AND THEN EXPECTING THEM TO WORK FOR YOU FOR MINIMUM WAGE IS NOT A GOOD IDEA.
So you can make your own damn coffee, Phil. I don't care how many times you apologize to me. I'll be across the street laughing at you next weekend.
