Mass catering really,
really isn't too nice.
A prime example of mass catering is
school pancakes for
70 . These are without question the most
extraordinary things I've ever eaten. At least half an inch thick, these consistantly have a consistancy of rubber foam, and taste burnt and
stale. They're a
real treat, universally enjoyed, of course.
The problem of creating quantity with any degree of quality without truly exorbitant expense seems insoluble. Mass catering is of course invaluable in providing sustenance to a large group of people, but if you're looking for more than survival value from your food, it's not up to much.
