Joe Jackson soundtrack to the
1983 movie of the same name. The movie starred
Debra Winger, and was
written and
directed by
James Bridges.
The story of Joe's music for this is somewhat sad. This was Joe's first project after 1982's Night And Day, and should have been a big thing. He wrote an album of music for the movie, and then it was decided to recut the movie with a different soundtrack. Joe's music is relegated to the backrground in a few scenes not as soundtrack music, but music playing in a bar or at someone's house. The album itself was never released on CD. Joe did score a minor hit with the song "Memphis", which stole the organ riff from the Spencer Davis Group's "Gimme Some Lovin'." It's still got some neat stuff on it, even though it has the feel of unfinished pieces of music that belonged in a movie.
