Portuguese Poet.
He was born in Lisbon in 1928 and he died in Lisbon in 1953 after two stays in Paris, in 1941 and 1951, where he in vain tried to fix residence, without financial means or any help. The second time in Paris would be fatal, as he leaves Portugal already sick and returns seriously ill due to tuberculosis.
He died still young, leaving a small but very important opus. His search was to approach those cultures outside of the dominant occidental culture and his poetry searches for a future that is as ancient as the past, to quote Mário Cesariny.
He can be considered the most important Portuguese Surrealistic poet.
