The Charles River is to
Boston what the
River Thames is to
London. It is one of the distintive
landmarks (or would that be
watermark?) of the city. In fact it gives Boston more of that
Boston quality. It's a little hard to describe. The river and the city fit
well together.
The Head of the Charles Regatta is held on this river every fall, inviting
rowers from all over the world.
If you fall into the river, you probably don't want to swallow the
water.
