The art (it is largely a matter of taste) and science (be sure you know something about chemistry) of food preparation. Often seen as a act of caring, a hobby, or as a chore. Many dictionaries mention application of heat as the only means for food preparation, however, sushi and steak tartare are (largely) unheated food.
