AMD's first sixth generation processor. Followed later by K6-2 (with 3DNow! SIMD-FP extensions) and K6-III (adds 256Kb L2 cache on die). K6 runs on Socket 7 boards, K6-2/III run on Super 7. K6 exists at frequencies of 166-233 Mhz K6-2 at 266-475 Mhz K6-III at 400-450 Mhz As for performance, K6>=Pentium MMX, K6-2>=Celeron, K6-III>=Pentium-III The AMD K6 family of chips are currently manufactured using AMD's 0.25 micron IC process at Fab25, Austin, TX.
