Mon Repos is French for "my place of rest" or simply "my rest".
There are a number of villages, parks, hotels, cottages, and etc. around the globe sporting the name, it being a cultured (i.e., French) and peaceful name fit for cultured and peaceful places.
Perhaps the best known Mon Repos is the former summer residence for the British royal family on the island of Corfu, Greece. It was in use by the royals from 1864 to 1967, and was the birthplace of many of the princes and princesses, including Prince Philip in 1921. It is now the Museum of Palaiopolis-Mon Repos, displaying various memorabilia of the British occupation and antiquities from the archaeological site at Palaiopolis. This influence has resulted in Mon Repos being a very common house name in England.
