I would like to decorate you
like a Christmas Tree.
A solid grip
at the base
to anchor you.
Glassy ornaments
to bring out your color.
Streams of tinsel
binding
and floating in mere
thought of a breeze.
Here and there,
a bauble from the past,
ensuring the link from
then to now.
The simplest of lights,
glowing on the outside,
and casting revealing shadows
on your form.
Candy canes and strings of popcorn;
sticky sweet, buttery, salty.
The simple blanket,
wrapped around
to catch what falls.
And who could forget
the crowning touch of a halo?
Yes, sometimes I would like to decorate you
as gaudy as a tree can be.
Mostly,
I would like
to see you
in nothing at all.
The perfect shape
wants for nothing,
but to be seen.
