A gemstone, not worn too much in traditional jewelry because of its low rating on the Mohs hardness scale, but popular in the past few years because of the crystal's reputed powers of calming. Because it comes in many colors (lavender is probably the most common), crystals with color zoning are frequent.

Calcium fluoride, a mineral of many different colors, white, yellow, purple, green, red, etc., often very beautiful, crystallizing commonly in cubes with perfect octahedral cleavage; also massive. It is used as a flux. Some varieties are used for ornamental vessels. Also called fluor spar, or simply fluor.
